SAO PAULO--Companhia Brasileira de Distribuicao (CBD, PCAR4.BR),
Brazil's largest retailer in terms of revenue, posted
fourth-quarter and full-year net sales increases, fueled by gains
at its nonfood businesses.
The company, controlled by French retail group Casino
Guichard-Perrachon SA (CGUSY, CO.FR), said late Tuesday that its
net revenue totaled 19.66 billion reais ($7.42 billion), up 16.2%
from the year-earlier period.
For full-year 2014, CBD's net sales totaled BRL65.5 billion, up
13.3% from 2013.
E-commerce business CNova and Via Varejo--which operates
Brazil's biggest home-appliance retail chains, Casas Bahia and
Ponto Frio--posted a collective increase of 29% in net revenue in
the fourth quarter and a 18.4% gain in 2014, CBD said.
GPA Alimentar, CBD's foodstuffs division, posted a 5.8% gain in
net revenue in the latest quarter and a 9.2% advance for the full
year.
