Shell Plc may restart a shuttered unit at its 404,000 b/d Pernis refinery in

Rotterdam by Sept. 25, according to a source close to the company with

knowledge of the matter and a Reuters report.

Separately, the Reuters report added that the De-Asphalted Oil (DAO)

hydrocracker was shut down because of the leak. The capacity of the unit is

approximately 25,000 b/d.

"We don't comment on the performance of our individual assets," a Shell

spokesperson told OPIS.

The loss of access to Russian crude and unusually high summer temperatures has

curbed output of oil products from European refineries, the International

Energy Agency (IEA) warned in August.

Refinery throughput across OECD Europe nations fell in June by 530,000 b/d

compared with the same month of 2022. For the third quarter, the agency

forecast an even greater year-to-year decline of 600,000 b/d, according to the

IEA.
