Reichhold, Inc. announced price increases today of $ 0.08 per pound
on all unsaturated polyester and vinyl ester resins sold in North
America for the composites industry. This increase is effective for all
orders shipped on or after August 1. Reichhold will also complete
the implementation of the $0.04 per pound price increase for unsaturated
polyester and vinyl ester resins sold in steel drums which was
previously announced on May 30, 2008.
“Raw material, steel, transportation, and
energy costs have continued to escalate to unprecedented levels with no
relief in sight,” said Al Naser,
Reichhold vice president of sales, Composites North America. “As
a result of these dramatic cost increases, we are forced to increase
resin prices to partially offset the impact and maintain economic
viability,” Naser continued. Even though the
North American economy remains soft, global supply and demand and other
economic factors are driving up the prices for critical raw and
packaging materials, diesel fuel, and energy,”
Naser added.
“Reichhold is making every effort to limit the
impact of rising costs upon product pricing, and appreciates the
understanding of its customers,” Naser said. “We
continue to invest in research and development, alternative materials,
and manufacturing process improvements to add value for our customers
and increase their competitiveness in the markets they serve,”
he concluded.
