A Citigroup Inc. employee in London's Canary Wharf financial district tested positive for coronavirus Sunday, the bank said, as the virus continues to spread across industries and geographies.

The bank employee, who worked on the third floor of Citigroup's offices where the bank's capital markets origination operations are located, is at home. The person was last in the office on March 10, Citigroup said. In addition, Citigroup employees who had worked nearby or had close personal contact with the sick person are self-isolating at home.

Citigroup's trading operations across asset classes remain uninterrupted. The bank has split its traders between its Canary Wharf location and another site in southeast London to ensure trading can continue in the event of an outbreak at one of the locations. The bank is also placing its investment bankers on a rotating schedule so that half of them are always working from home.

This is the latest case of Covid-19 in the business district. Earlier this month, HSBC Holdings PLC advised employees who worked on a floor of its global research department at its headquarters in Canary Wharf to work from home after one of its staff was diagnosed with the virus.
