E.ON SE said Monday that it is starting operations at a process
steam generator in Terneuzen, the Netherlands, which it previously
built for chemicals company Dow Benelux BV with a 30-million-euro
($35.4 million) investment.
The German utility company will operate the plant as owner for
15 years under a partnership with Dow Benelux, the
Netherlands-based subsidiary of U.S. chemicals company Dow Inc.
E.ON said it is in charge of operating the process steam
generator as support for Dow's existing power plant in Terneuzen.
The plant produces chemical intermediates and plastics which are
manufactured as raw materials for other industries, E.ON said.
The company added that the plant utilizes gases that contain up
to 45% hydrogen and that it meets new limits for nitrogen oxide
emissions.
