Unilever PLC said Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire the Los-Angeles-based vitamin, mineral and supplement company, SmartyPants Vitamins for an undisclosed sum.

Unilever, owner of Ben & Jerry's ice cream and Hellmann's mayonnaise, said the acquisition complements the company's portfolio of brands in the functional nutrition and supplement segment.

The terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but the company said the acquisition is subject to regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions.
