Assicurazioni Generali SpA and Accenture PLC said Wednesday that they have formed a joint venture which will support Generali's innovation and digital strategy.

The solutions developed through the joint venture--called Group Operations Service Platform--will accelerate the digitization of Generali's business processes and centralize the company's governance, the companies said. This is expected to enable the Italian insurer to improve operational efficiency and profitability, and to achieve cost savings, they said.

Accenture holds a minority stake of 5% in the venture and will contribute with a team of 40 professionals working on cloud, artificial intelligence and big data, the companies said.
