KUKA AG said Monday that it has signed a contract with Daimler AG's Mercedes-Benz to direct some production lines.

The German robotics company said it would be responsible for the engineering, construction, assembly and commissioning of a number of the German car maker's models at the "body-in-white" stage of manufacture, which is after the main frame has been assembled but before paint, trim and engine have been added.

KUKA said it won all four packages to develop the frames for the car models.

The company didn't disclose the financial terms of the contract.
