Siemens AG said Wednesday that it is expanding its cooperation with German pharmaceutical company BioNTech SE on production capacity for Covid-19 vaccines.

"Within this cooperation, Siemens will provide the latest automation and digitalization technologies for BioNTech production sites, such as design, simulation, and engineering software as well as process control technology," the German company said.

BioNTech previously said that it would establish new production sites for vaccine production worldwide, starting with a new production facility in Singapore. The pharmaceutical company has also converted an existing plant in Marburg, Germany into a vaccine production facility using support from Siemens, Siemens said.
