Capri Holdings Ltd. on Monday said it named Emmanuel Gintzburger chief executive of its Versace unit, poaching the executive from Kering's fashion label Alexander McQueen.

Capri, the London-based parent of Michael Kors, Jimmy Choo, and Versace, said Mr. Gintzburger will join on Sept. 12 and report to John Idol, Capri's chairman and chief executive.

Jonathan Akeroyd, who had been CEO of Versace since June 2016, last year announced plans to join luxury-good company Burberry Group PLC as CEO on April 1. Capri previously said Cedric Wilmotte would step in as interim CEO of Versace on Jan. 17 while it conducted a search for a successor to Mr. Akeroyd, who is leaving the brand at the end of the month.

Mr. Gintzburger had previously replaced Mr. Akeroyd as CEO of Alexander McQueen in May 2016. French luxury firm Kering on Monday said Gianfilippo Testa would succeed Mr. Gintzburger as CEO of Alexander McQueen.
