Advanced Oncotherapy PLC said Tuesday that it has made significant progress on its Light tumor treatment system, and it continues to expect it to be fully operational by the summer.

The U.K.-based developer of therapy systems for cancer treatment said it has optimized its machine to deliver a smaller proton beam, and as a result has made good progress preparing data for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration regarding the stability, intensity and spot size of the beam.

"We are pleased to see positive data on the performance of the machine's beam, in line with our computer simulations, outlining the superior profile of the Light proton beam," Chief Executive Nicolas Serandour said.
