Ryanair Holdings PLC said that less than 2% of its 3,000 flights had been affected by industrial action on Friday, and that it expects 98% of its daily flights to operate normally over the weekend.

The low-cost Irish airline said the labor strikes were mainly confined to minor disruptions in Belgium and that more than 60% of its scheduled flights to and from Charleroi and Zaventem airports in the country would operate.

The airline said there were no flight disruptions in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal, the U.K., France or Ireland because the majority of its crews were working normally. Over the weekend, the company expects minimal disruption to its flight schedules to stem from the action, it said.

However, the budget carrier said it expected some disruption on Saturday and Sunday--mostly in France and Spain--stemming from a French Air Traffic Control center strike in Marseilles.

The airline was responding to media reports which said some cabin crew in Spain, Portugal, and Belgium had staged walkouts as they called for better payment and working conditions, and that staff in Italy and France were expected to join the protests over the weekend.

The news comes on the back of easyJet's cabin crew in Spain announcing nine days of strikes in July in response to blocked pay negotiations between employees and the budget airline. On Thursday, U.K. trade unions said that British Airways check-in staff at Heathrow Airport voted for strike action amid calls for a 10% pay cut made during the coronavirus pandemic to be overturned. BA is owned by International Consolidated Airlines Group SA.
