AstraZeneca PLC said Friday that its independent nonexecutive director and chairman of the company's remuneration committee Michel Demare has been appointed as the new chairman-designate of the board.

The Anglo-Swedish pharma giant reiterated that the current chairman of the board, Leif Johansson, will be retiring in April 2023.

"Michel's appointment will take effect immediately on Leif's retirement allowing for a managed handover period over the coming months," AstraZeneca said.
