Electronic Arts Inc. on Monday said it is collaborating with Marvel Entertainment on a long-term deal to develop at least three new videogames that will be available for consoles and personal computers.

The Redwood City, Calif.-based videogame company said each game will be their own original story set in the Marvel universe, which includes a range of characters such as Captain America and Black Panther. The company said the first title in-development is a single player, third person Iron Man game coming out of Motive Studios.

"We look forward to welcoming Marvel into the EA family of creators," said Chief Operating Officer Laura Miele.

The collaboration comes as videogame companies look to release distinct offerings that can appeal to consumers as the industry is seeing a slowdown in growth after a pandemic-fueled spurt of spending. The broader landscape is also changing, notably with Activision Blizzard Inc. in the process of being acquired by Microsoft Corp. for around $75 billion.
