SÃO PAULO--Centrais Elétricas Brasileiros SA, or Eletrobras, said Thursday that it and Shell PLC signed an agreement to exchange information regarding developing and operating offshore wind power projects in Brazil.

The two companies agreed to seek areas where they could form partnerships in the area, Eletrobras said.

The effort is part of Eletrobras's plans to diversify its power generation sources with a focus on renewable energy, the Brazilian utility said.
