Anglo American Platinum Ltd. said Wednesday that Chief Executive Officer Natascha Viljoen will step down to become CEO at Newmont Corp.

The South African precious-metals company--which is majority owned by Anglo American PLC--said Ms. Viljoen will leave her role upon completion of her notice period of up to 12 months.
