International stocks trading in New York closed lower on
Tuesday.
The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts
declined 1.2% to 149.61. The European index fell 1% to 150.24, the
Asian index dived 1.6% to 163.47, the Latin American index
decreased 1.4% to 180.22 and the emerging markets index dropped
1.5% to 271.01.
ADRs of BP closed down 8.1% to $36.78 after the oil giant
reported better-than-expected 1Q profit, but slowed its share
buyback run rate.
ADRs of Cemex on Tuesday closed up 4.9% to $6.38 after the
Mexican cement maker posted a 14% increase in first-quarter net
profit as sales increased from higher prices, and easing inflation
contributed to higher operating gains.
ADRs of HSBC closed up 3.5% to $37.07 after the bank's
first-quarter net profit surged more than three times compared with
the same period a year earlier as the lender continues to benefit
from tighter monetary policy globally.
