Former Uber Technologies security chief Joseph Sullivan was
sentenced to three years' probation in federal court Thursday.
Mr. Sullivan was convicted of criminal obstruction charges by a
jury in October, charges that stemmed from Uber's failure to report
a data breach in 2016 while it was under investigation for an
earlier cyber incident.
Federal prosecutors had recommended a sentence of 15 months in
prison.
Mr. Sullivan was fired by Uber in 2017 after Dara Khosrowshahi
took over as chief executive and ordered an investigation into the
incident. Mr. Sullivan was charged by federal prosecutors in
2020.
