14:28 ET -- Chevron is one of the most mentioned companies in the U.S. across all news items in the last 12 hours, according to Factiva data. The company said it agreed to buy PDC Energy in an all-stock transaction with a value of $6.3 billion, or $72 per share. Chevron said the acquisition would be complimentary to its operations in "important" U.S. production basins.
