PIC AND SERGAL ENTER INTO STRATEGIC RELATIONSHIP

Genus plc (LSE: GNS), a leading global animal genetics company, announces that its porcine genetics business, PIC, has entered into a strategic relationship with the shareholders of Sergal Gestió Ramadera, S.L., a leading Spanish porcine genetic distributor. The relationship will become effective in the third quarter of 2021.

Sergal is a leading porcine distributor in Spain and its high quality supply chain, commitment to customer service and innovative culture make it an ideal partner to enhance the distribution of PIC's elite porcine genetics in the Spanish and European markets. This strategic relationship will support pork producers across Europe by combining PIC's elite genetics with Sergal's focus on customer service and deep knowledge of the market. The commercial terms of the relationship remain confidential.

Under the strategic relationship, PIC will acquire Sergal's semen supply chain, which will be integrated into PIC's European gene transfer network, and certain other commercial assets. The parties will continue to collaborate to ensure an ongoing focus on customer service and the delivery of PIC's elite genetics and related services.

Within the EU, the pig herd in Spain continues to expand year on year due to strong domestic demand and a focus on exports. Spain continues to be one of the key global pork markets exporting to China.
