CheckFree Corporation (NASDAQ:CKFR) today introduced CheckFree Web
Rich Experience (RXP(SM)), the latest innovation in its
industry-leading electronic billing and payment platform. The
system uses Rich Internet Application (RIA) technology to provide a
"rich experience" for users, driving greater understanding and
awareness of key functionality to move users to heightened levels
of product adoption and usage. CheckFree Web RXP(SM) makes it even
easier for consumers to adopt tools and features within an
institution's online bill pay service, including e-bills, payment
reminders and recurring payments. Leveraging the CheckFree Web
Payment Center CheckFree is leveraging its Payment Center hub and
adding incremental components that will enhance the user interface
without compromising overall familiarity with the service. Today,
the "just-in-time" presentation of tasks and content in CheckFree
RXP enables users to remain within the Payment Center where they
conduct most of their payment-related tasks, while viewing relevant
biller, payment and promotional information. This helps financial
institutions drive higher levels of adoption, while enabling
consumers to take advantage of more of the convenient features
available to them through the electronic billing and payment
service. "Financial institutions utilize a number of consumer
marketing approaches to educate the mainstream consumer about using
online banking and payment features," said Matt Lewis, executive
vice president and general manager of CheckFree's Electronic
Commerce Division. "CheckFree Web RXP drives increased awareness
and adoption of high-value tools -- a win-win for consumers and
financial institutions alike. Consumers gain enhanced financial
control and ease of use, while financial institutions benefit from
a deepened online relationship, resulting in greater customer
loyalty." By integrating rich Internet components into the
CheckFree Web Payment Center, online banking sites can offer
greater interactivity than HTML alone. According to a September
2006 Forrester Research report, the majority of online consumers
who have used rich Internet applications (RIA) report that these
applications greatly enhance their Web experiences. When asked what
they liked most about interactive rich Internet features, online
consumers' top choice was ease of use, followed by great content,
and faster processing time. CheckFree Web Payment Assistant The new
Payment Assistant leverages CheckFree's comprehensive consumer
research. Using rich Internet technology, the Payment Assistant
provides just- in-time, biller-specific content during a user's
bill pay session, including: - Biller Information: The billing
address and pending and recent payment details are presented at the
point of payment initiation. - Educational Tips: Messages are
presented based on the consumer's payment behavior for each
particular biller, and progressive opportunities are offered to
learn about and adopt new features. - Actionable Links: Links are
displayed that enable setup of new tasks, such as receiving a bill
electronically or establishing a recurring payment. Instead of
requiring users to leave the Payment Center and seek these
features, they are presented to them and do not interfere with the
momentum of their bill paying tasks. A new way to deploy the right
enhancements and functionality CheckFree has developed an approach
for deploying enhancements in the code base directly to its
clients, allowing financial institutions to take advantage of
incremental enhancements and features in CheckFree Web RXP without
requiring the resources associated with a full implementation of
product upgrades. As a result, it is easier to deploy new
functionality to users. The goal is to deliver the right
functionality at the right time, maintain the integrity and
familiarity of the interface, and minimize the impact on financial
institutions' implementation resources. Industry Leadership
