Air Force Materiel Command Awards DRC Design Engineering Support
Program II ID/IQ Contract ANDOVER, Mass., July 6
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research Corporation
(NASDAQ:DRCO) announced today that the Air Force Materiel Command
(AFMC) granted the company an Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite
Quantity (ID/IQ) Design Engineering and Support Program II (DESP
II) contract with a ceiling of $1.9 billion to provide design,
engineering and technical support services. Task orders under the
contract may be received through June, 2010 and must be completed
by June, 2012. DRC is one of 10 prime contractors on the award and
assembled a team of 30 subcontractors, including 22 small and/or
disadvantaged businesses. "The effects of uncertain funding levels
and the looming threat of base closure with its resultant
realignments are compounded by the need to get equipment quickly to
the warfighter in ongoing operations in order to sustain current
weapon systems," said DRC senior vice president and general
manager, Robert L. Smith. "Our DESP prime experience, the
possession of deep technical expertise to meet the military's
needs, a superior program management team, and a superb group of
subcontractors provides DRC the latitude to successfully serve the
DoD." "Providing across-the-board support to the warfighter in a
wide variety of elements requires a solution that is delivered
rapidly, efficiently and effectively," added Smith. "DRC's
experience identifying and implementing process improvements only
adds to the benefits the warfighter will receive with better
systems and lower costs. We look forward to continuing to assist
the U.S. Air Force Logistics Centers (ALCs) and other DESP II
clients achieve their missions." AFMC evaluated 29 contract bids,
and awarded six prime contracts and four small business set-aside
contracts. To win its prime contract, DRC demonstrated technical
excellence in engineering design, integration, system
modifications, process analysis, and maintenance/repair operations.
A systems integrator with a 50-year history of successful support
to the DoD, DRC has provided direct support to ALCs since 1991.
