ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 23 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research Corporation (NASDAQ:DRCO) today announced the Ohio Statewide Automated Child Welfare Information System, a culmination of a two-year effort with the Ohio Department of Jobs and Families, the Ohio Office of Information Technology and Compuware, has officially entered into Pilot Operations in Muskingum County. Designed to streamline communications between child services agencies all across Ohio it is the most capable web-based statewide child welfare system in use today. "Having one integrated statewide system enables the State to pool resources and critical information, maximizing its ability to favorably affect child welfare," said James P. Regan, DRC's chairman and chief executive officer. "The system equips State employees and case managers with the tools to make better decisions in the best interest of the children in Ohio." "The Ohio program is an exemplary demonstration of great project leadership supported by a dedicated team of DRC employees, consultants, and state employees focused on one goal -- to help the children and families of Ohio," said Tom Kelly, DRC's senior vice president and general manager for Systems Engineering and Information Technology. "The program brings to bear DRC's customer-centric approach and business transformation, system integration, change management and training and support capabilities that government customers have come to expect from us." Many of Ohio's counties employ different approaches in managing computerized case management information. The new system will provide timely and consistent information to all workers, statewide, and the capability to share information, improving their ability to support customer and community needs. The integrated project team approach ensures stakeholder acceptance and successful widespread usage of the system. Furthermore, the system supports ongoing funding, policy, organizational, and legislative changes by operating in a technical environment that is flexible, extensible, and based on industry and state architectural standards. Muskingum County was chosen as the first county to use the new system. Beginning pilot operations required the completion of training for Muskingum County users, a complete web-based solution built specifically for Ohio, delivery of 82 operational and management reports and conversion of data for Muskingum County. Following the estimated 90-day pilot operations period, during which Muskingum County will conduct their daily business using the new system, it is anticipated the project will progress into statewide rollout over an eight month period for Ohio's 87 remaining counties. Ohio's business process or approach to child protection/family preservation activities serves as the basis for the system's workflow. One-time data entry populates system views and is used to compile documents and reports needed to support case activities and program accountability and management statistics. System alerts and ticklers provide much needed reminders that keep workers and supervisors abreast of the activities associated with each case.
