ANDOVER, Mass., Sept. 28 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics
Research Corporation (NASDAQ:DRCO) today announced that it has been
awarded a new task order to provide developmental research
supporting the General Item Unique Identification program for the
Air Force's Air Logistics Center at Hill Air Force Base, Utah. The
$1 million task order has an 18-month period of performance and
represents the fourth task awarded to DRC this year under its Air
Force Design and Engineering Support Program (DESP II) contract.
This most recent award brings the number of task orders awarded to
DRC to four, for an estimated total value of $18.3 million.
Inclusive of this award, DRC ranks first among large business
holders of a DESP II contract in terms of both the number of awards
and total contract dollars. In a related development, DRC recently
received $3 million in additional contract funding directing the
early execution of two optional tasks included in the previously
announced $5.6 million Skill Kitting Inventory Tracking and
Technology acquisition initiative at the Oklahoma City Air
Logistics Center. The new funding will be used to immediately begin
subsequent phases of the program, accelerating their execution by
almost 8 months. "In tandem with our other Item Unique
Identification (IUID) initiatives DRC is pleased to provide the
fundamental technology necessary to make the overall program a
success. This program, as first directed by the Under Secretary of
Defense, Acquisition Technology and Logistics, is key to operating
the Air Force Depot System in an integrated and efficient manner,"
said DRC senior vice president and general manager, Robert L.
Smith. A systems integrator with a 50-year history of successful
support to the DoD, DRC has provided direct support to Air Force
Air Logistics Centers since 1991. DRC's work at Hill Air Force Base
will aid with the establishment of the umbrella IUID program for
all Air Force depots. The program is intended to improve asset
tracking of repaired, overhauled and manufactured components for
accountability, valuation, and life cycle management purposes.
