ANDOVER, Mass., Aug. 29 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research
Corporation (NASDAQ:DRCO) today announced that it was awarded a
$1.49 million task order under the Air Force's Design and
Engineering Support Program (DESP II) contract. Under the terms of
the task order, awarded through the Oklahoma City Air Logistics
Center at Tinker Air Force Base, DRC will support the C/KC-135
Aircraft Systems Engineering Program (ASEP), including the
development and implementation of solutions to challenges
identified by the government as materially influencing C/KC-135
aircraft mission readiness. "This marks DRC's ninth task order
award under DESP II, and highlights our commitment to providing
exceptional engineering and high-level technical services in
support of all Air Force weapon systems, components, and support
equipment," said Robert L. Smith, Senior Vice President and General
Manager, Acquisition Management and Engineering Group, DRC. "We
will continue to apply our expertise to incorporate proven
technologies and methods into Air Force infrastructure to sustain
and enhance DoD weapons systems." Under this task order, which has
a performance period of 18 months, DRC and subcontractor General
Atomics will perform engineering design, prototype, and system
level testing to obtain data required for airworthiness
certification. Solution development may require but is not limited
to: developing detailed corrective actions; redesigning components
and/or sub-components; preparing certification documents for
landing gear system improvements; preparing financial documents for
components/sub-systems that require program approval and funding
for production implementation; validating and verifying aircraft
and affected commodity technical orders; developing test plans for
component and/or system-level evaluation; and analyzing corrective
actions including technical and economic factors. DESP II is an
Indefinite Delivery-Indefinite Quantity (ID/IQ) contract with a
ceiling of $1.9 billion to provide design, engineering and
technical support services to the Air Force Air Logistics Centers
(ALC) through 2012. As one of 20 prime contractors on the award,
the DRC DESP II Team provides the incumbent expertise, stability,
