Dynamics Research Corporation Awarded $3.7 Million Army Research
Institute Training Contract ANDOVER, Mass., March 30
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research Corporation today
announced that it has been awarded a $3.7 million contract by the
Army Research Institute for the Behavioral and Social Sciences to
develop a prototype high performance Ground Systems Team Training
(GSTT) program for U.S. Army brigade battle staff. Work under the
contract, which is expected to generate approximately $2 million in
revenues in 2004, began on March 22, 2004. Applying leading edge
training technology into warfighting efforts -- simulation-based
training and embedded training in particular -- is a key component
of the Army's broader efforts to integrate warfighting functions
into a single network to support its transformation from the
Current Force to Future Force and Future Combat Systems (FCS). By
applying a methodology that encompasses the entire training
development cycle, DRC will effectively assess training needs,
analyze processes to identify group performance behaviors and,
based on these behaviors, develop a prototype training program.
DRC's team training support will include performing risk assessment
in the area of Command and Control and Battle Command; conducting
Command and Control collective task analysis to identify critical
coordination tasks for Army Brigade battle staffs; leveraging
aviation team training products to create an effective, embedded
GSTT program to train critical coordination tasks; and assessing
the efficiency and effectiveness of GSTT training products with
operational units. Operational testing will use the new Battle
Command on the Move system employed by the 4th Infantry Division in
the Battle of Taji. The successful implementation of this training
program will enable the U.S. Army brigade battle staffs to: *Reduce
much of the 'fog of war' that has been blamed for numerous
accidents and several friendly fire incidents *Achieve shared
situational awareness, effective risk assessment, risk management
and fratricide prevention *Provide a team coordination culture for
Army reorganization, training and deployment in brigade sized units
"DRC is pleased to have the opportunity to extend our existing high
performance team training leadership to the U.S. Army Future Force
and Future Combat Systems," said William C. Hoover, DRC president
and chief operating officer. "As a proven leader for more than two
decades in providing training and implementation services to
improve team performance, DRC understands that the consequences of
ineffective team performance in high-stress, high-stakes
environments can be loss of life." The Blanket Purchasing
Agreement, awarded by the U.S. Army ResearchLaboratory, will entail
work in Enterprise, AL, Andover, MA and Orlando, FL over the
16-month contract period. About Dynamics Research Corporation
