DRC Wins $30 Million Competitive Bid for J2EE Development Using
Compuware Development Products and Professional Services State of
Ohio Taps DRC to Automate its Child Welfare System; Compuware
OptimalJ and J2EE Expertise Selected to Speed Application
Development ANDOVER, Mass. and DETROIT, Nov. 15
/PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dynamics Research Corporation
(NASDAQ:DRCO) and Compuware (NASDAQ:CPWR) today announced an
alliance to develop applications for Ohio's Statewide Automated
Child Welfare Information System (SACWIS). Dynamics Research
Corporation (DRC) was recently awarded the $30 million contract --
more than a third of which was earmarked for Compuware -- in a
competitive RFP. DRC, the Andover, Mass.-based solutions provider
chose Compuware professional services and products, including
OptimalJ, Compuware's model-driven enterprise Java development
solution, to simplify and speed the process of architecting and
building J2EE applications for all of Ohio's 88 counties. "In a
highly competitive bidding process such as this, success is
incumbent upon expertise, efficiency and the ability to deliver,"
said Tom Kelly, DRC's Senior Vice President and General Manager,
Systems Engineering & Information Technology Group. "Compuware
professional services and development products enable us to rapidly
and cost-effectively build J2EE applications." Federal mandate
requires that all states move toward the enactment of a
comprehensive automated case management tool, such as SACWIS, to
support state child protection workers in the processing of foster
care, assistance and adoption services. Ohio's Department of Job
and Family Services (ODJFS) contracted for DRC to build additional
state-specific functionality into SACWIS to supplement federal
automated case intake, eligibility management, resource management
and court processing requirements. "For development initiatives
involving large teams, complex functionality and dependencies,
integration with existing infrastructure and cross- departmental
communication, Compuware is the clear choice," said Tommi White,
Compuware Chief Operating Officer. "Specifically, for DRC and its
SACWIS project, Compuware OptimalJ enables developers of varying
skill levels to shorten development cycles and helps ensure project
success." Compuware OptimalJ is an advanced model-driven,
pattern-based (MDPB) J2EE development environment that reduces the
time and complexity associated with architecting, delivering and
maintaining J2EE applications. Development teams use Compuware
OptimalJ to generate standards-based applications directly from UML
models, greatly speeding application development while improving
quality and maintainability. It provides development teams with
unparalleled control over the code generation process, ensuring
that OptimalJ applications adhere to internal and industry-wide
guidelines and best practices for application architecture.
