Online real-estate company Move Inc. (MOVE) named former Yahoo
Inc. (YHOO) executive Barbara O'Connor the company's executive vice
president of marketing.
In the newly created role, Ms. O'Connor will lead marketing and
communications teams for Move's brands and websites. Move operates
sites including Realtor.com and Moving.com as well as the real
estate sales and marketing software Top Producer Systems. Ms.
O'Connor will lead overall strategic brand planning for the
organization and its marketing goals.
Ms. O'Connor worked at Yahoo for 10 years, where she was most
recently vice president of global consumer marketing. There, she
was responsible for leading the marketing of Yahoo commerce and
media properties, including its news, sports, finance,
entertainment and lifestyles sites. Before Yahoo, Ms. O'Connor
helped launch Kontiki Inc., a company specializing in enterprise
video platform and enterprise content delivery networks.
Other Yahoo executives recently have left the ranks of the
Internet search company. Former Yahoo product executive Cody Simms
was in June tapped as vice president of product at StumbleUpon, the
social discovery website. Yahoo advertising executive Rich Riley
also left in June after the ouster of former Chief Executive Scott
Thompson. Yahoo continues to search for a new CEO; Hulu Chief
Executive Jason Kilar recently bowed out of the running.
Shares of Move closed Monday at $9.32 and were inactive in
premarket trade. The stock is up about 47% so far this year.
