operator, Move, Inc. today announced the appointment of
David Roth as vice president of
performance and social marketing. Roth will oversee the company's
marketing efforts in web search and social media, which are among
the most important channels for the discovery and exchange of real
estate information in today's marketplace.

Prior to his position at Move, Roth was director of search and
affiliate marketing at Yahoo!, Inc. where he drove hundreds of
millions in revenue through multiple marketing channels. In 2006,
Yahoo! had recruited Roth to centralize all its search marketing
activities in what was a newly created role to support the
company's largest marketing programs for its shopping, travel,
automotive, small business and fantasy sports franchises.
At Move, Roth will report to Barbara O'Connor, executive vice
president of marketing, who joined the company in August from
Yahoo!. Roth will be based in Move's Campbell headquarters.
A noted industry expert who frequently lectures on best
practices in search and direct marketing, Roth has appeared at
conferences including Search Engine Strategies, Search Marketing
Expo and PubCon. Additionally, he has contributed scores of opinion
pieces to industry websites such as Search Engine Land. He
began his career in 1999 managing eLuminator's search marketing
service while at MediaDNA. In 2005, Roth joined Carat Interactive
in San Francisco, where he ran
paid and organic search and affiliate marketing programs for
clients such as TiVo, Dish Network, Kodak, AOL and Hyundai.
Roth holds a Master's degree in International Business from the
University of California, San Diego,
and a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from UC Berkeley.
