Among the companies with shares expected to trade actively in
Tuesday's session are Gray Television Inc. (GTN), XenoPort Inc.
(XNPT) and Cheniere Energy Inc. (LNG).
Gray Television continues to be an active acquirer, announcing a
deal on Monday to buy Schurz Communications Inc.'s television and
radio stations for about $442.5 million. Shares of Gray Television
rose 8.2% to $12.70 in premarket trading.
XenoPort Inc. reported positive phase 2 study results for
XP23829 as a potential treatment for patients with psoriasis. But
shares of XenoPort fell 9.2% to $6.14 premarket.
Billionaire investor Carl Icahn on Monday disclosed he had
raised his stake in Cheniere Energy to about 9.59%. Shares of the
energy company grew 1.4% to $55.90 premarket.
Kellogg Co. (K) is forming a joint venture with Tolaram Africa
Foods in a $450 million deal that includes a 50% stake in
Nigeria-based food distributor Multipro and an option to acquire a
stake in Tolaram in the future.
MSCI Inc. (MSCI), a stock-index provider, has agreed to buy
aggregation service Insignis Inc. for an undisclosed amount in a
bid to strengthen its analytics business.
PartnerRe Ltd. (PRE), which in August agreed to be bought by
Italy's Exor SpA(EXO.MI) for $6.9 billion, said on Tuesday that the
deal's "go-shop" period expired Monday without any other
offers.
Sonic Corp. (SONC), which has reported several periods of higher
same-store sales and improved margins, said it expects a 2%-to-4%
same-store sales increase for the year ending in August 2016.
Griffin-American Healthcare REIT III Inc. said Tuesday that a
joint venture with NorthStar Healthcare Income Inc. has agreed to
acquire senior-healthcare provider Trilogy Investors LLC in a deal
worth about $1.125 billion.
Cloud-networking company GTT Communications Inc. (GTT) on
Tuesday said it agreed to buy One Source Networks for $175 million
in a move to broaden GTT's scale and add to its roster of
multinational clients.
Ford Motor Co. (F) reached a new supply deal with Alcoa Inc.
(AA) that would expand its use of aluminum in the car maker's F-150
pickup truck and other vehicles, a leg up for the lightweight metal
in an industry that has long favored steel.
NII Holdings Inc. (NIHD), which owns Nextel-branded wireless
units in Latin America, sold a $178 million stake in Nextel
Argentina to media company Grupo Clarin. Under the terms of the
deal, subject to regulatory approval, Argentina's Grupo Clarin
would have an option to buy the remaining 51% stake. The news was
reported earlier by Argentine journalist Jorge Asis.
Pebblebrook Hotel Trust (PEB) said weaker-than-expected demand
in August and September is weighing on its third-quarter guidance
for a key lodging-industry metric.
Railroad operator Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWR) on Tuesday
lifted the low end of its third-quarter guidance range, citing
current business conditions.
