Network Equipment Technologies, Inc. ("NET") (NYSE: NWK) today
announced that Albany International Corp., a global leader in
advanced textiles and materials processing, is deploying NET's VX
Series Unified Communications Gateways worldwide as its strategic
VoIP solution.
Albany's VoIP implementation is part of the company's broader
strategy to support its global operations with shared, centralized
services for procurement, finance, and customer care. To ensure
effective, cost-efficient communication between its internationally
dispersed operations and these shared service teams, Albany is
integrating VoIP into its Microsoft Office Communication Server
2007 (OCS) environment -- which provides features such as presence
detection and Exchange-based voicemail that simplify everyday tasks
and cut down on communications latency.
Albany selected the VX Series unified communications solution
because of the product's support for the diverse PBXs in use across
the company's 31 worldwide locations, its tight integration with
Microsoft OCS and Active Directory, its robust security, its ease
of management, and its differentiated call processing capabilities.
Other factors supporting Albany's decision were NET's strong
support services, deep convergence expertise, and long-term
technology roadmap.
Albany evaluated competing solutions from all of its "short
list" vendors by testing them under live conditions in its Albany,
New York headquarters and Lawrenceville, Georgia data center as
well as in a Kaukauna, Wisconsin manufacturing facility. NET not
only validated the performance of its solution during the testing,
they also demonstrated their commitment to Albany's success by
being the only vendor to put highly skilled engineers on site,
rather than just providing telephone support.
The VX Series was also the only tested solution with the
capabilities to place seven-digit phone calls between any pair of
endpoints, to include voicemails in users' Exchange mailboxes, to
support presence awareness for users with IP phones, and to provide
common administration with Microsoft OCS.
"When you're embarking on a project that is this complex and
that can potentially have such a big impact on your company, you
want to have the utmost confidence in both the technology you're
using and the company behind that technology," says Barry Duncan,
Vice President Information Technology for Albany. "With NET and the
VX Series Unified Communications Gateway, we have that
confidence."
"Albany is enhancing the productivity of its operations through
the deployment of an innovative unified communications network,"
said Franois Le, VP of Commercial and International for NET. "NET
will continue to work with Albany to maximize the network's
availability, ease of management, and security, and we are
committed to assuring their success."
