Orange delivers two new high-quality smartphones into the hands of more people with the launch of the Orange Gova and the Orange Reyo. Orange’s established and successful range of own-brand smartphones continues to perform favourably against leading smartphone brands as Orange combines ease-of-use and affordability with the latest technological advancements to deliver an experience that resonates with customers.

Sales of Orange’s own range of smartphones grew by 40 per cent year on year (2012-2013) across its European footprint and market share also grew by over 40 per cent last year, maintaining its ‘fastest growing brand’ status in Orange’s portfolio. With a record 14 new devices launched last year, double the number in 2012, the portfolio is successfully addressing a broad spectrum of customer needs from entry feature phones to high-spec 4G smartphone devices.

4G Orange Gova delivers on speed and affordability

The launch of Orange Gova will be Orange’s fastest own-brand 4G smartphone to date, capable of handling 4G’s optimum speeds of up to 150Mbps theoretical peak throughput, delivering the full 4G experience to customers. With 4G networks launched in ten of Orange’s countries globally1 and 4G roaming on track to launch across its European footprint by the end of 2014, more customers than ever will enjoy making video calls, sharing high-res photos, multi-player gaming and streaming HD videos and much more.

The category 4 LTE device has a slender 7.85mm profile, 4.5” qHD screen, 5 megapixel camera and HD voice. It also features Android Jelly Bean 4.3 operating system, 8GB of storage, 1GB RAM and a quad-core 1.2GHz processor.

The Orange Gova will be available from April onwards in Poland, Spain, Slovakia, and Luxembourg as well as Moldova, Tunisia and Mauritius. Exact pricing and specific availability will be announced locally.

The ample-sized Orange Reyo

The Orange Reyo boasts a 5” IPS screen with exceptional colour definition, and offers customers looking for longer battery life a full day of multimedia use. With Android Jelly Bean 4.2 operating system, 5 megapixel camera, HD voice and a dual-core 1.3 GHz processor, customers will receive an outstanding smartphone experience.

The Orange Reyo is available now in Spain, Slovakia, Romania and Poland. Exact pricing is determined on a local basis.

The Orange experience continues to evolve

Orange also introduces Orange Updates for its new smartphones, which enables easy access to update Orange’s services such as Orange Wednesday’s and Orange TV for example. It also informs customers about the latest Orange applications without the need to go into the operating system’s own app store to discover them. Orange Updates is the latest example of how Orange is listening to its customers’ needs and marks the beginning of a new evolution of services to help customers get the most out of using their Orange smartphone.

In addition to Orange Updates, the new smartphones are also packed with Orange’s familiar features that are designed to make the phone straightforward to use and easy to set up, especially for those new to the smartphone experience. These include:

  • Orange Home screen with standard and easy modes. Introduced in 2013, easy mode has proven to be popular with first time users of smartphones, delivering a straightforward interface designed for customers to get the maximum out of their smartphone.
  • Orange Gestures - familiar to existing Orange smartphone customers, the feature allows customers to draw natural and intuitive gestures on their home screen to quickly access their favourite contacts, applications, and services.
  • Orange Assistant takes customers through the initial set-up of their smartphone with helpful tutorials, hints and tips that are accessible at any point.

Yves Maitre, Executive Vice President of Connected Objects and Partnerships, Orange, said: “At Orange we firmly believe that smartphones and the latest technology such as 4G should be affordable to many, not just a few. With the Orange Gova and the Orange Reyo we are further delivering on that aim to deliver high-quality smartphones without the premium price into the hands of more people than ever before.”
