GLNCY Glencore Plc (PK)

LONDON--Diversified mining firm Xstrata PLC (XTA.LN) said Monday it has agreed to announce whether or not it intends to put Glencore PLC's (GLEN.LN) proposal to shareholders by 0600 GMT on Sept. 24, and if so, will publish its response on all elements of proposal at that time.

MAIN FACTS:

-Independent non-executive directors will consider the proposal and consult with major shareholders before responding.

-Xstrata shares closed Friday at 1014 pence valuing the company at 30.45 billion pounds; Glencore shares suspended.
