CSX Corp. has tapped railroad industry veteran Mike Cory to serve as executive vice president and chief operating officer.

The Jacksonville, Fla., freight railroad on Friday said Cory, who previously served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Canadian National Railway, has provided transportation consulting services since retiring from CN in 2019.

CSX last month said Jamie Boychuk, previously executive vice president of operations, had left the freight railroad.

Cory, 61 years old, spent more than four decades with CN after joining in 1981 as a laborer in the railroad's locomotive shops.

CSX said Cory will receive an initial annual base salary of $725,000 and an annual bonus with a target of 100% of his base pay.

Also on Friday, CSX said it named Kevin Boone executive vice president and chief commercial officer. Boone, who joined CSX in 2017, had been executive vice president of sales and marketing.
