Employees in all of the firm's markets to
take part in community activities on October
19
TORONTO, Oct. 17, 2017 /PRNewswire/ - Mark Rose, Chair and CEO of Avison Young, the world's fastest-growing
commercial real estate services firm, announced today that it will
hold its fourth annual Global Day of Giving this Thursday, October 19 in all of the company's
markets.
"On October 19, employees in
Avison Young's 80 offices in
Canada, the U.S., Mexico and Europe will again dedicate the day to
volunteer activities on behalf of local community organizations
that strive every day to better the lives of people in need and at
risk," comments Rose. "We're thrilled that approximately 2,600
employees will participate in the Global Day of Giving to help us
promote social, economic and environmental sustainability. The 80
offices participating this year represent a 25% increase from 2014,
when we held our inaugural Global Day of Giving. That year,
employees in 60 offices took part. More importantly, this increase
means that we are giving back to more communities that support our
company and our causes throughout the year."
Avison Young's Global Day of
Giving is part of the company's global citizenship strategy. Each
Avison Young office has chosen its
own community volunteer project in consultation with the charity
that will receive the assistance.
"Many people want to give to their local community but they just
aren't sure where to begin," notes Donna
Abood, Avison Young Principal and Co-Managing Director
of the firm's Miami office. "The
Day of Giving unites our Avison
Young family globally during a day on which we all have the
opportunity to not only give financially, but to take the time
physically to show our support and gratitude to our local
organizations throughout the world. It's easy to write a cheque,
but it is much more meaningful when we roll up our sleeves and get
fully engaged in giving. When we think about Avison Young's unified effort to do so around
the world on the same day, well, that is just amazing corporate
culture that we can all be proud to be a part of."
Local staff activities on October
19 will range from volunteering at animal welfare and
children's services organizations, to assisting at food and
furniture banks, to cleaning up beaches.
"Helping others is an integral part of our firm's culture, and
we support the opportunity for everyone to have the basic
necessities that most people take for granted," says Avison Young
Principal Sherry Quan, who is
based in Vancouver, BC. "Giving
also connects us to others, creating stronger communities.
Volunteering with even the smallest tasks can make a huge
difference in the lives of people, animals and organizations in
need. I think having all 80 offices lend a helping hand outside the
boundaries of our offices will be a very humbling and rewarding
experience for all employees involved, and we hope that our Day of
Giving will encourage others to join together to contribute to a
worthy cause."
The Global Day of Giving's philanthropic effort expands annually
as Avison Young opens new
offices.
"The Day of Giving is representative of the perpetual culture of
care and inclusiveness within Avison
Young," states Jason
Sibthorpe, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director
of the firm's U.K. region. "A significant number of diverse people
and organizations around the world will benefit from our Day of
Giving, and it provides our company with the opportunity to show
genuine community support and global citizenship – rather than make
token gestures designed to bolster the bottom line. It is our
privilege and, I believe, our responsibility to make a positive,
meaningful impact on others' lives."

Avison Young employees will be
