The Japanese yen strengthened against the other major currencies in the Asian session on Tuesday.

The yen rose to 4-day highs of 117.97 against the U.S. dollar, 116.41 against the Swiss franc and 82.54 against the Canadian dollar, from yesterday's closing quotes of 118.28, 116.77 and 82.76, respectively.

Against the euro, the yen climbed to 128.03 from yesterday's closing value of 128.31.

The yen edged up to 167.82 against the pound, from an early low of 168.65. This may be compared to an early 4-day high of 167.78.

If the yen extends its uptrend, it is likely to find resistance around 116.00 against the greenback, 115.00 against the franc, 79.00 against the loonie, 126.00 against the euro and 164.00 against the pound.
