officer appointments effective immediately:

• Allan D. Gilmour has been appointed Vice Chairman and Chief Financial Officer.

• I. Martin Inglis, former Group Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, 
  is appointed Group Vice President of Business Strategy.

Pursuant to our Listing Agreement, you are hereby notified of the following 
officer appointment effective August 1, 2002:

• David W. Thursfield, currently Ford Motor Company Group Vice President and 
  Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Ford of Europe has been 
  appointed Group Vice President of International Operations and Global 
  Purchasing and continues his role as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, 
  Ford of Europe.  Mr. Thursfield succeeds Carlos Mazzorin who becomes Senior 
  Advisor to the Office of the Chairman and Chief Executive.

• Martin Leach, Vice President, Product Development, Ford of Europe, has been 
  appointed President and Chief Operating Officer, Ford of Europe. Derrick M. 
  Kuzak has been elected a Ford Motor Company Vice President and will succeed 
  Martin Leach.
