INCREASE IN PRICE AND TRADING VOLUME


4 July 2002 - In response to a query today by the Singapore Exchange regarding
the substantial increase in the closing price and trading volume of BIL
International Limited ("BIL") shares, BIL wishes to advise that, except as set
out below, it has as of the date hereof nothing further to add to the
announcements which it released on 24 May and 12 June 2002.

In its announcement on 24 May 2002, BIL stated that "an investor has approached
BIL and expressed an interest in making an investment in certain of BIL's
assets" and that "the same investor has also approached a substantial
shareholder to buy a block of BIL shares".  BIL wishes to add that the investor
has indicated to BIL that it is no longer looking to invest in BIL's assets.  At
this stage, BIL understands that no definitive agreement has been entered into
between the investor and the substantial shareholder.

In the meantime, all persons are advised to exercise caution when dealing in BIL
shares.
