HOLDING IN COMPANY

The Company was informed on 23 December
1999 by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
("Aberdeen") of the following transactions
in ordinary Income shares of 1p each
("Shares") in the Company.

On 23 December 1999 Aberdeen sold 325,000
Shares on behalf of
Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc ("AHIT").
AHIT now holds 2,500,160 Shares
representing 4.48% of the issued shares in
that class.

On 23 December 1999 Aberdeen sold 325,000
Shares on behalf of
Aberdeen Preferred Income
Trust plc ("APIT"). APIT
now holds 4,750,000 Shares
representing 8.51% of the
issued shares in that
class.

The Company was also notified by Aberdeen on 23

December 1999, that following Aberdeen's recent

assumption of the fund management contract of the

Second St. David's Investment Trust plc, Aberdeen

and its associated companies now manage 17,193,052

Shares, representing 30.81% of the issued shares in

that class. These Shares are registered as follows:
