PREMIER HIGH INCOME TRUST PLC

The Company was informed today that Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited sold
300,000 Ordinary 10p Shares on 12 January 2000 on behalf of the Aberdeen High
Income Trust Plc.
Aberdeen High Income Trust Plc now holds 900,000 Ordinary 10p Shares,
representing 4.63% of the issued class of capital,(previously 6.17%).

Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited also informed the Company today, that they
sold 1,000,000 Ordinary 10p Shares on 12 January 2000, on behalf of Aberdeen
Preferred Income Trust Plc.
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc now holds 0 Ordinary 10p Shares
(previously 5.14%).

The total number of Ordinary 10p Shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers
Limited and its associated companies is 1,900,000,representing 9.77% of the
issued share capital of that class (previously 16.45%).
