Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited write to inform you that they purchased 250,000
shares of the above company on the 20th January 2000, on behalf of Aberdeen
Preferred Income Trust Plc.

Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc now holds 2,750,000 shares representing
6.06% of the issued share capital of that class (previously 5.51%).

The total number of shares now managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited and
its associated companies is 10,750,000 shares representing 23.70% of the issued
share capital of that class. (previously 23.15%)
