BFS UK Dual Return Trust PLC

We have today been notified by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited that they have
sold of 4,613,315 Capital Shares (representing 4.23% of that class of share)
on 18 May 2001 on behalf of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust Plc. Aberdeen
Preferred Income Trust Plc now hold 5,219,973 Capital Shares (representing
4.79% of that class of capital).

We have also today been notified by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited that they
have sold of 3,386,685 Capital Shares (representing 3.10% of that class of
share) on 18 May 2001 on behalf of discretionary funds under management.

The total number of Capital Shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
and its associated companies, is 5,219,973 representing 4.79% of the issued
share capital of that class.

The resultant total voting shares managed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
and its associated companies, is 23,345,011 shares representing 12.83% of the
total voting shares in issue.
