The Company has today been informed by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited that
they sold 500,000 income shares on 13 August 2001, on behalf of Aberdeen
Preferred income Trust PLC. Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust now hold 1,500,000
income shares, representing 3.00% of the issued share capital of that class.



Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited now has an interest in 13,825,000 income
shares, representing 27.65% of the issued capital of that class.



The Company has also been informed today by Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited
that they have sold 500,000 capital shares on the 13 August 2001 on behalf of
Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC. Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC now
hold 1,500,000 capital shares, representing 3.00% of the issued capital of
that class.



Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited now has an interest in 14,000,000 capital
shares, representing 28.00% of the issued class of capital.



The total number of voting shares in which Aberdeen Asset Managers Limited now
have an interest in is 27,825,000, representing 27.83% of the total issued
classes of capital.
