ABERDEEN PREFERRED INCOME TRUST PLC
5.375% RPI-LINKED DEBENTURE STOCK 2007 ("the Debenture")

The Company announces that the Adjusted Redemption Price of the Debenture for
value on 14 September 2001 was #125.075 per 100 units (#100 nominal) of Stock,
calculated on the basis set out in paragraph 6 of the Trust Deed dated 27
March 1997.  For the purposes of the calculation the gross redemption yield on
the Treasury 2% Index-Linked Stock 2006 was 2.551% and the assumed inflation
rate was 3%.
