The Board of Aberdeen Preferred Income Trust PLC has today (19 April 2001)
declared a first monthly dividend in respect of the year ended 28 February
2002 of 1.6p (net) per Ordinary Share.

The first monthly dividend will have a record date of 27 April 2001 and will
be paid on 24 May 2001 to Ordinary shareholders on the register at the record
date.
