Statement issued by the Supervisory Board


Schiphol Group and KLM unanimous on departure of Board of
Management Member Van Lier Lels

Schiphol Group's non-executive Supervisory Board has had to ascertain that the
reason for requesting the company's Board of Management member and Chief
Operating Officer Ms. M.E. van Lier Lels to relinquish her position effective 2
January 2005 has become the subject of speculation and varying interpretation.



To put an end to the above situation, the Supervisory Board  emphatically states
that Ms. Van Lier Lels was requested to relinquish her position as a result of
problems arising from her performance both internally as well as externally. The
operational co-operation with the Air France-KLM Group, Schiphol Group's largest
client, in particular being the reason for the latter.  KLM's Board of
Management fully agrees with this statement.



The Supervisory Board has acknowledged that the Central Works Council has said
in its own statement that after having received detailed information, the
Central Works Council assumes that the decision (taken by the Supersisory Board
to request Ms. Van Lier Lels to relinquish her position) is the result of
exceedingly careful consideration of the facts and circumstances and that the
Central Works Council respects the decision taken by the Supervisory Board.
