SAMPO BANK TO ISSUE A SUBORDINATED LOAN

Sampo plc's subsidiary, Sampo Bank plc, will issue a subordinated
loan eligible for Tier 1 capital on the international capital
markets. The loan strengthens the capital adequacy of the company and
enables growth of the banking operations. The loan will be EUR 125
million at maximum.
