               EBS Building Society announces resignation of CEO



After almost seven years of successfully leading EBS Chief Executive Ted
McGovern has decided to resign and will be leaving the Society at the end of the
summer.

Commenting on the resignation the Chairman, Mark Moran said: "On behalf of the
Board I would like to thank Ted for the very significant contribution he has
made to EBS during his leadership period.

Since he joined EBS in 2000 Ted has made EBS a real competitive force in Irish
financial services and developed a brand in which we can all be proud.  Under
his stewardship the EBS business has gone from strength to strength and is today
very well positioned for its next phase of development.

The Board's priority now is to recruit a successor to Ted and this process will
commence immediately.  Ted will work with us to ensure that the transition phase
is as smooth as possible.

I am very encouraged by the fact that our business is performing well and that
our current financial performance for the first half of 2007 compares very well
with last year.

Our current strong financial position is again testament to Ted's leadership and
the Board wish Ted every success in his future career."
