Bateman Litwin Awarded US$4.9 million Uranium Solvent Extraction Contract in South Africa
Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 29 July 2008 - Bateman Litwin N.V. today announces that its Solvent Extraction Business Unit, which is part
of the Advanced Technologies Division, has been chosen to design and supply proprietary solvent extraction (SX) equipment for a uranium
production plant on behalf of Mintails Limited. The plant, named WERGO, will be located in the West Rand of the Republic of South Africa and
will recover uranium from goldmine tailing dumps. The plant is expected to have an initial throughput capacity of approximately 9.6 million
tonnes of slime per annum. The contract is worth circa US$4.9 million.
Two of Bateman Litwin's leading SX technologies were chosen for the project:
* The Bateman SettlerTM, a proprietary reverse-flow mixer-settler (RFMS) technology, which was developed and patented by Bateman
Litwin
* The Bateman Pulsed Columns, high efficient contactors which enhances the SX processes.
The contract will also include provisions for overall on-site supervision during construction, staff training and commissioning.
Production is expected to begin in late 2008.
Raphael Kleinberger, General Manager of Bateman Litwin's Solvent Extraction Business Unit said:
"We are pleased to have been awarded the contract by Mintails Limited, which adds to a distinguished list of successfully executed
uranium related SX plants using our proprietary technologies".
Notes to Editors:

* A compact layout
* Shorter construction time
* Low capital cost
* Easy straightforward operation and maintenance
The Bateman Pulsed Columns (BPC)
The BPC is a highly efficient cost effective contactor which enhances solvent extraction (SX) during extraction, stripping and the
scrubbing or washing processes.
Main Advantages of the BPC:
* Continuous and multi-stage extraction process
* Handling of liquids with suspended solids
* A safer and more environmentally friendly process
* Free from internal moving parts
* A fully automated system
* Lower maintenance and operating costs
* Dramatically reduced floor space requirements
