                           Announcement re: contract

The directors of the Biotrace International Plc ("Biotrace", the "Company" or
the "Group"), a leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial microbiology
products, have noted the announcement yesterday evening made by Celsis referring
to its contract to install its products in Milk Link's three UK sites. The
directors of the Company would like to inform its shareholders that two of the
three Milk Link sites were previously supplied with Biotrace products and that
in the year ended 31 December 2003 these two sites generated sales of #57,000
out of the Group's total reported turnover of #19.9 million for that year.

Ian Johnson, Chief Executive Officer of Biotrace, said:

"Whilst we are disappointed to lose a contract of any size, the Group has won
multiple new contracts in the UHT dairy products testing arena globally since
the start of the year and has a number of further prospects in the pipeline,
which the directors expect will continue to grow Biotrace's share of the UHT
dairy products market. Accordingly the loss of the Milk Link contract will not
materially affect current year forecasts.

Over the last few years we have grown the Group and diversified its product
offering to withstand the occasional contract loss, especially at reduced margin
levels.  Trading in the first quarter was significantly ahead of the
corresponding period last year, including multiple new contract wins across the
Group, and we look forward to providing a further trading update at the AGM on
13 May 2004".
